Description

The FT 22 is a fun flyer that beginners and advanced pilots can enjoy together. This 2 sheet design is the first of our new Simple Series, which uses the FT Elements Simple Firewall, instead of a power pod. Considering the sleek look of the FT22 and it's excessive elevon control surface throws, the FT22 is actually a very forgiving platform that we would even go as far to say that it would be a great first plane/trainer. This is an excellent introduction to bank and yank style flying. With a smaller motor and battery, this plane could easily be flown indoors in as small as a 2 court gymnasium and with a heavier set up it penatrates well enough to be flown in light to moderate wind.

NOTE:

-Usually ships within 4 business days. (due to the rush)

-This includes the airframe only (no electronics).

-This airframe was developed by Chad Kapper and Josh Bixler.

FT-22 Build by a beginner pilot
I am a beginner pilot to say the least, but I have been watching the FliteTest guys do their thing on YouTube for a while now and I am just impressed with what they have done here. Josh B., Josh S., Alex, and David when he was in the states, I have enjoyed every video. I have watched several of the build videos too and while I would like to have the P-51 and Spitfire I decided to try the FT-22 Raptor. As this is the first RC airplane I have ever attempted to assemble, I ordered the speedbuild kit to make things easier on myself; and it arrived quickly and in perfect condition. The build itself took me about 4 1/2 hours and I followed Josh's build video from start to finish (I watched it a time or two before hand so I knew what was coming up and what tips to use to make it go smoothly). I was nervous as heck going in to it, but once I got to bending and gluing it was a relaxing build. It really is very simple to build this plane and it looks fantastic thanks to the FT crews plans and improvements. I still need to install my electronics so I have not been able to fly it yet, but I am hoping to do that soon. Hopefully I will have a successful maiden (noob pilot talking) and then I will Minwax and paint this great looking bird. If you are on the fence like I was about wether or not you can do this, I am pretty sure you can and you'll love the results. Thanks FliteTest for getting the hobby out there on a wider scale and for getting people like me interested in doing something I always thought would be too complicated for me to handle. You guys make it fun and you make it simple. Great job and thank you all!

FT-22
the build was very simple and straight forward. this is the first time I have used foamboard before and I was surprised how strong it is. also this was the first time I have used hot glue to build a plane. the end result is a beautiful very strong plane and the speedbuild kit made it easy. A+ airplane
