Great way to start the Swappable Series!!!
I've been following the "Swappable" series since FT started it and love the simplicity and overall concept. Much better to me than the old balsa stick days of building for weeks or months and losing all that work in a flash of bad luck.

I built the FT Flyer form scratch before these were available in the store. It was a blast to fly and helped re-ignite my passion for this hobby. I also built the Old Fogy from scratch, it is a pure joy to fly!

Having not built the Nutball and Delta, I decided to buy this kit and was amazed at how well everything was packaged. It arrived well packed in the shipping carton and all the little parts and pieces were securely bagged. I believe there were even extras of the the small zip-ties...Maybe I just got a lucky bonus but I like to think the guys aren't scrimping on the small stuff like some vendors.

One item to consider for the new pilots or crash prone like me, LOL:
The included firewall works great but is not very forgiving of dirt naps or rough landings. (tends to crack between the BBQ skewer holes and motor mount. No worries though...just order a separate pack of firewalls (5) and laminate them with CA. I'm posting an article on FT with directions.

I have since purchased the Spitfire, Baby Blender and Old Speedster...Can't wait to get them in the air.

Wishing everyone clear skys and calm winds, -Sr12

Great fun!
The kits go together easily with the videos of the scratch builds. Basically a great deal for anyone. I'm a first time scratch builder and had a blast.

Quick story: A few days ago I was flying the nutball for the first time and crashed. It was a hard crash that destoryed the first quarter of the swap-able pod was crushed, the firewall turned to splinters.

I woke up today planning on extracting mesurments from whats left of the pod to cut a new one. While looking for my ruler I checked the box from flitetest and found a cutout of a spare pod. I was pumped "they sent two!"

Thank you for taking us crash happy newbs into account

Great build kits
I built all three kits in about 5 hours, including the power pod. All the hardware was going to a training session for adults. The foam kits from Flitetest were a hit because of the initial price to get into the hobby. First one costs about $60 for the power pod, transmitter, and aircraft, each one after that one cost only $10 or less. I maidened the FT Flyer and Nutball, inside flying, the next day. I will maiden the FT Delta when the snow melts and the mud dries up out at the outdoor field. Incredible easy build for a noob just getting into the hobby.

Swappable Kit
I tried to build one from foam board my lines was all wrong and cuts was bad. looked like my grandson cut it , no he would have done better I bet.

I love the swappable kit all the stuff is there and the build vids are great too. It makes life simple and easy, it also makes me look like I am a good builder.
But in real life I can't build anything not pre-cut or pre-marked.
It fly's great I got a 1800kv on it I can go vertical !

Now on to the baby blender can't wait to get it and build it. Then fly it.

Great buy, lots of fun
This is my first time with foam board planes. Thanks for all the videos and this great kit. This has gotten the kids and me started. The package arrived quickly with no damage. The parts are well cut and the kit contained everything but the electronics. I was worried that my kids, two girls, wouldn't be interested in in this, but they were all over it as soon as the box got opened. Now I just need some warm weather to learn to fly in.

I highly recommend this kit for anyone shy about getting into scratch building. I can't wait for more designs to be offered in the store. The fact that they are swappable makes them very affordable.

Swappable kits
The kits came in a hard solid box preventing any damage to the content. Inside the box all parts where packed in sealed plastic bags. And the kits are laser cut which means its first class precision on all things you get in the box.
As far as building goes, the aircrafts are really easy to build whit a little help from Joshes build video. It took me one hour to build each plane and that is whit all the servo and electronic install. So for a beginner those kits are great! You only need a hot glue gun some tape and a knife and you are good to go! If you are wondering what kind of electronics you need for the planes just check out the components list for the kits and you will find everything you need to make them fly.
So what do I think of these magnificent aircrafts? They are great! They are made from cheap materials so anyone can build them. I only bought them because I am a big fan of Flitetest because they have inspired me to take my hobby to higher altitudes. And hopefully the money I paid for the kits will help Flitetest keep the show running.

Thank you!!! I love it. I was on back order, but it was worth the wait. I use the foam board as my template. I have built about ten of the delta's already with dollar store foam board. I am new at the hobby planes and this kit was just perfect for me starting out. Thank you!

3-Pack Swappable Speed Build
First off, I ordered these when they were on backorder. It said that the earliest it could ship would be 2/25, so I didn't expect it to ship until later as I was a late comer. Imagine my surprise when it shipped on the 25th and arrived at my door on the 27th.

My son and I stood at the bench together and watched the video howto on building the powerpods and each built one along with Bixler. It was easy and fun to do as a father/son thing. Then we built the FT flyer together, with my kid doing most of the work. These kits are so easy to assemble, and having the videos to guide you is fantastic.

If you aren't stuck on the fact that these are foam, GET THE KIT. I'm preparing to take the plans for the FT3D to my local printer to get a set of plans, but I might just buy the kit if FT produces one (hint, hint).

This kits are outstanding and a great value.
Not only are these easy to build, they make great, easy to use patterns to transfer to your own craft foam.

The control horns and firewalls are super, I ordered some spares for future swapables/repairs.

I am a noob RC pilot and having an economical fleet to learn on (and crash!!) lets me fly even when conditions are not ideal. Surprising resilient too, most of the time, it is just straighten the prop and fly on.....ok the tree hit took a prop and a servo, but still an easy fix.

Speed build swappable kits arrived in Europe
Today i received my Flitetest Box with the swappable speed build kit. Even though i wasn´t fast enough to be among the first 100 buyers (138 is handwritten in my box) i got the complimentary Sticker set ;-) ...

The 3 plane kits came safely packed and you´ll even receive a real Josh Bixler autograph on your USPS receipt ;-)

The quality of the foam cuts look very neat from first sight, everything is just as mentioned in the Review before. Unfortunately my Extreme Packing Tape hasn´t arrived yet, so I will have to wait, until I can start my first build.

Some might want to know how long the shipping was to europe. Reading the USPS receipt, the box obviously was hand checked by Josh on 02/20/13, i had to collect the box at german customs today (03/05/13), so it´s 13 days all in all. Presumingly the box got stuck in customs a few days. Didn´t have to pay any VAT as the price was only 33USD.

Nice improvements
Having built each of these previously a couple of times over, I enjoyed the improvements to the designs. For instance the added tail skids on the Nutball and Flyer, the wire hole in the firewall etc. I ended up building these and letting a friend's kids have a go and after a dozen nose crashes into the ground, and an equal amount of props, they were still flyable. I usually build a slightly thicker firewall but these held up fine with the abuse.

It was a strange feeling to cut the hinges out with the foam pulled in from the laser cutter, but still doable. I also added a thin bead of glue around the edges of each plane in the cavity that was left there and smoothed it, it has helped with any peeling.

Like the above reviewer everything was packed well and complete. I encourage everyone to buy linkage stoppers to make life easy and if this is your first attempt, trace these to poster board for future templates.

Swappable Kits
The kits came in a sturdy and strong box assuring a safe and crush free delivery. Carefully cutting the tape and opening the box, the contents appeared well protected and well packed. The planes looked larger than I expected and in great shape. One large parts bag was in the box rather than one bag per plane (good idea), along with a seperate bag that contained the push out wheels and parts. The information sheets where well thought out, easy to read and understand. The suggested equipment list gave all the parts needed for the spacific plane. An A+ is given to everything about the kit and how it was designed, and delivered.

Oi! Get that lazer in gear
How did I get the youtube update and you are already out of kits! Fire up that lazer already. I made the big mistake of letting my kid see the video, and there is no way for me to get out of buying this kit.

PS, did you try (not that I have a lazer) doing the cuts in three passes - paper, then foam, then paper, to see if that takes care of the undercut?
